Sir Julius Peale

Former squire to Christopher Armestronge, Julius was knighted in 1225 at Strickland's tournament, along with his friend Sir Andrew. Austhwaite Manor is pretty much the only home he has ever known, so Julius elected to stay on in Sir Richard's service.

Background: Julius is a local boy orphaned at birth. He was raised by the Church at Calder Abbey, but as Julius had no heart to become a priest he ran away. Sir Christopher was impressed by him and, in need of a squire, chose the lad.

Julius has gained a reputation as a tough opponent in the area tournament (although some of his jousting ability comes from the magical saddle which keeps him rooted to his horse). It was at the tournament of 1227 that Sir Julius met Lady Elise Aughton, though he did not discover she had posed as her brother to fight until the Tournament of 1231. Similarly, Julius did not know at the time why Sir William Wyberg and his cronies had attacked him; it was later revealed that Julius had been William's father's bastard son, a fact which apparently William had learned and sought to remedy.
